The centerpiece of this concert is The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind, composer Osvaldo Golijov’s 1994 meditation on the life of thirteenth century Jewish mystic and philosopher Isaac the Blind. This profound work combines contemporary influences with Klemzer music and its roots in the Jewish folk music of Eastern Europe. The HASCO duo, comprising Amanda DeBoer Bartlett (Omaha, NE) on vocals and electronics and Jesse Langen (Chicago, IL) on guitar and electronics, team up with Michael Wittgraf (Grand Forks, ND) on computer to create an afternoon filled with soothing sounds, interesting words, and many surprises.
