YouthLink Benefit #1 with John Keston
March 30 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm
2011 MECA winner John Keston hosts an afternoon of old standards and new compositions, to raise money for YouthLink.
Years ago I had a weekly solo piano gig on Saturday afternoons at the old Loring Bar. This period in my life started so many great friendships, led to careers, and I met my partner, Misty. This good fortune would not have happened had I not had the privilege of growing up with a piano almost everywhere I lived. My father practiced singing daily, often with talented accompanists, because his musical career depended on it.
Last year Misty and I moved to a smaller home and purchased a new (to me) piano that sounds amazing. This instrument has inspired me to rekindle the spirit of the Loring days with monthly Saturday afternoon performances graciously hosted at Jax Cafe. Through these events I hope to hangout with friends, entertain you with some old standards / new pieces I’m working on, and raise money for YouthLink:
“YouthLink works with homeless youth, ages 16-23. We are located in downtown Minneapolis, and serve youth across the Twin Cities. At YouthLink, we have over 40 years of experience connecting young people with a community of resources and support. Whether it’s basic needs, like a hot shower or a warm meal, assistance with employment or educational goals, accessing mental and physical health resources, or finding supportive housing, we can help young people at all stages of their journey.” https://www.youthlinkmn.org
Please join us at Jax Cafe for the music or a happy hour cocktail. An optional donation of $10 for YouthLink is suggested. Thanks!
