The Legacy of Dominick Argento

Join Thursday Musical in commemorating the one-year anniversary of Dominick Argento‘s passing on Thursday, February 20th at 10:30 am in MacPhail’s Antonello Hall. “The Legacy of Dominick Argento” will feature Argento’s songs and works by David Evan Thomas and Randall Davidson. The music will be interspersed with commentary and tributes to this beloved Minnesota composer and teacher by Thomas and Davidson, both former Argento students.

Soprano Young Eun Lee will make her Artist Series debut with Argento’s iconic “Six Elizabethan Songs” with pianist Kristine West Denton. David Evan Thomas‘ “Soft Summer Airs” is featured in a set of pieces performed by pianist Mimi Tung while OboeBass! (Carrie Vecchione, oboe; Rolf Erdahl, bass) will take on the role of “singing instrumentalists” in Randall Davidson‘s “A Most Knowing Woman,” a comedic setting of a Stephen Foster song.
