OboeBass! American Vein Coffee Concert
March 1 @ 2:00 pm$15 – $18
Series founders, Carrie Vecchione and Rolf Erdahl, present a recital of music from their new American Vein tour program, including the World Premiere of Valerie Coleman‘s “American Vein,” commissioned for OboeBass! This commission was made possible by the Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Program, with generous funding provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Valerie has been called “one of the Top 35 Women Composers” by the Washington Post’s Music Critic. (Follow Valerie at www.facebook.com/vcolemanmusic or https://www.vcolemanmusic.com)
OboerBass! also have a new “Pictures at an Exhibition” type piece they will perform that they’re very excited about. It was collectively written for them by Randall Davidson, Mary Ellen Childs, Steve Heitzeg, David Evan Thomas, Sarah Miller, and Tim Goplerud to depict art works from a recent Cy DeCosse retrospective exhibition at MCAD. OboeBass! will perform it with projections of the art works that inspired the movements. Here’s some info about that exhibition where the work premiered: https://mcad.edu/event/many-faces-cy-decosse-retrospective-exhibition
OboeBass! rounds out the performance with works of Stephen Foster and Timothy Goplerud.
