Let’s Talk: Possibly–Ideas from the Ashe Lab

November 18, 2019 @ 6:00 pm

$20

POSSIBLY: IDEAS FROM THE ASHE LAB
Reception at 6pm; Program at 7pm

The Ashe Lab is a two year interdisciplinary residency program nurturing black artists to create beautiful, radical, life-giving art that answers our communities’ most pressing needs. The program convenes an intimate cohort of artists: soundscape composer Queen Drea; poet, essayist, and educator Erin Sharkey; and interdisciplinary dance duo Orlando Hunter and Ricarrdo Valentine of Brother(hood) Dance!-to work collaboratively with Artistic Advisor Harrison David Rivers to create a single performance piece informed by discussion with black community in Minnesota.

Hear from the inaugural cohort as they begin their journey together. Penumbra’s Let’s Talk Series creates space for compassionate and challenging conversations around issues of social justice, equity, and the arts. Curated by Sarah Bellamy, the event begins at 6:00pm with refreshments and light bites, followed by a 90-minute presentation and discussion.
