Landmark to Lowertown: Lynn O’Brien & Steven Hobert

March 28 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

FREE

2016 MECA winner Lynn O’Brien & Steven Hobert present a soulful, improvised duet of voice and piano. Please join us for a unique, playful concert of improvised music – completely composed in the moment. Lynn O’Brien, experienced vocal improviser and recent winner of the Minnesota Emerging Composer Award will collaborate with the masterful pianist Steven Hobert inside the newly expanded museum. Together, they’ll weave stories, create songs and soundscapes, and may even invite you in for a song or two. Don’t miss this chance to be surrounded by sound and sculpture!

Welcome to the 5th season of Landmark to Lowertown: weekday performances of new music held in the beautiful public spaces of downtown Saint Paul! Continuing the tradition, this season’s composer/performers are past awardees of the American Composers Forum‘s Minnesota Emerging Composer Award (MECA). Each of these artists recently received funding to pursue a musical project that stretched them in new directions. These performances enable you to experience that creative outcome and hear new work developed over the past year. All events in this series are free and open to the public.
