Chris Granias & Friends: Kalo Taxidi III

Sponsored by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, this is the third in a series of fundraisers hosted by Dr. Chris Granias highlighting his journey as an artist and a patient with MS. Kalo Taxidi III will feature an illustrious cast of artists performing compositions by Granias.

Chris Granias, composer/poet/piano; David Pates, narrator/poet; Rebecca Heyn, piano; deVon Gray composer/bassoon/electronics; Lynette Simpson, voice; Chad Macnally, hammered dulcimer/Irish harp; David Harris, vocals; Mark Turbac, representative from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society; and others.

Dr. Chris Granias, a native of Chicago, received his Doctorate in Theory and Composition from the University of Minnesota, a Master’s in Piano Performance from Northwestern University, and a Master’s in Composition from Drake University.

Dr. Christos J. Granias remarks early in the conversation, “I’m a glass half full kind of person.” Composer, educator, humorist, and longtime ACF member, Granias has been living with multiple sclerosis (MS) since the 1990’s, and he sees it as part of life’s journey. This month, as Granias focuses his creative talents on raising money for the MS Society, ACF sat down with him and his collaborators to learn more about him and about Kalo Taxidi (Good Journey), the fundraising concert he’s producing in October.
