Bee-sharp Honeybee by composer Rae Howell is a brand new music work currently in development. Working with musicians, animators, filmmakers, bee researchers and beekeepers in Minnesota, it is an independent art-science creation project, inspired by, and directly derived from the research of bees, with a focus on bee buzz frequencies. The initial music sketches (composed by Rae Howell) and short documentary of the initial research process (directed by Deacon Warner) are hot off the press!! Bee-Sharp Honeybee will culminate in a live string orchestra work, to be performed with a live stream of bees and animated visuals, derived from hand-illustrated graphic scores, based on the way a beehive functions.

Bee-Sharp Honeybee is an ambitious project with a lot of heart: Save the Bees!! It’s going to be big, it’s going to be great, and your support will make it happen!

All financial contributions go directly to the musicians and animators in developing the project for live performance. There’s an abundance of perks for contributors, including the immediate delivery of the initial music sketches for string quartet, there’s the documentary film, free concert tickets, VIP access to rehearsals & performances.. the list goes on!

If you’re a lover of bees and/or have connections with beekeepers, or honey lovers, please contribute, share, and spread the word. It’s a project with an important and topical subject, and with your generous support we can make it come to life.
