Global Roots Festival 2018: Lemon Bucket Orkestra and Delgres
September 19 @ 7:30 pm - 10:30 pmFree
The Cedar Cultural Center celebrates its 30th anniversary this fall at the 10th Annual Global Roots Festival taking place September 15-19 2018. Over the last ten years, The Cedar’s signature Global Roots Festival has offered Twin Cities audiences free, in-depth access to new artistic voices from around the world, fulfilling The Cedar’s mission to promote intercultural appreciation and understanding through global music.
The trio of musicians behind Delgres draw inspiration from the history and music of front man Pascal Danae’s ancestors, former slaves from the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe who fled and found refuge in New Orleans. Rooted in a lived history of diaspora, Delgres links French, Caribbean and US cultures, creating a soulful musical gumbo of swampy Mississippi Delta blues, Caribbean rhythms and Big Easy funk and drive.
Lemon Bucket Orkestra is a 12 piece punk Balkan brass band that brings to life the beautiful music of south, central and eastern Europe. Tracing their genesis back to the streets of Toronto, an original quartet of busking troubadours quickly amassed a battalion of like-minded musical souls and blossomed into a full-blown Orkestra. The multi award-winning ensemble has been heralded as a groundbreaking, genre-bending phenomenon, delivering unforgettable performances that have audiences dancing, singing and begging for more.
